NetApp launches 2 economic storage units mixing SAS and SAN 2007-09-10
Network Appliance introduces two models of entry of range FAS2020 and 2050 of a capacity of 24 and 69 terabytes. IBM the met with its catalogue under the N3000 reference
NetApp renews its offer of entry of range. Two new models, FAS2020 and FAS 2050, make it possible to only gather directly the storage of data DAS (direct attached storage) “within one and even solution of storage in network” or “pool of storage”.
The equipment is equipped with a technology RAID 6, which does not impact the performances of the applications and the transfers of data.
Another characteristic, their technology disc is of type SAS (individual attachment or direct attachment) structures intern of it but from the external modules will allow connectivity in network SATA and FC (4 ports “fiber channel”). Later on, these same modules will be integrated into the systems.
The two models support protocols CPF, iSCI, NFS and CIFS. They also profit from the functions “thin provisioning” (FlexVol etg FlexClone), allowing the addition of units hot discs with optimization of spaces available.
Model FAS2020 can control to 40 discs, that is to say a maximum capacity of 24 terabytes. Its memory hiding place is 2 Go.
The FAS2050 can control to 104 discs, that is to say a maximum capacity of 69 terabytes. Its memory hiding place is 4 Go.
The two models are equipped redundant controllers.
