Secured windows Vista : Symantec

Symantec, the company who is known for security services both for the enterprise portion of the business world and the home user alike, recently released a series of whitepapers on the security of Windows Vista. The new product from Microsoft, has gained attention both positive and negative from computer experts and regular users all over the world. One thing that is often looked at, is the security. Microsoft released Vista with the premise of the strongest security offering from the operating system giant in years. It should come as no surprise that Symantec found flaws in the security. What is surprising is that while they found potential dangers, they also gave Microsoft a much-needed nod of the head with to security improvements that are currently present. Once such example comes from the User Access Control (UAC), this informs the user of changes made to the PC by software running on it. Most of the report centers on the fact that Vista is still vulnerable to the existing exploits and attacks aimed at the earlier versions of the operating system, Symantec explains in detail the level of defense offered and where exactly the flaws and potential flaws reside on the system. Overall, while there are flaws Symantec does state in the reports, that Microsoft has led with its best foot forward, detailing a number of examples in the system that offer more protection for the end user. “Many of the technologies that Microsoft has employed to bolster the security of Windows Vista are not new.
