Telecommunications Management Software of IBM 2007-03-31
IBM (NYSE: IBM) continues to gain momentum in telecommunications management software with today’s announcement of high scores in a new Gartner Dataquest scorecard report [1]. According to the independent analyst firm report on Operation Support Systems (OSS), IBM ranked ’strong’ and ’very strong’ in several key areas including ’product and service,’ ’market understanding,’ ’sales strategy’ and ’market responsiveness and track record.’
According to the Gartner Dataquest report, the OSS market was worth $21.5 billion in 2006, and IBM scored overall as a ’strong’ OSS vendor.
"We believe this report confirms that IBM’s combination of Vallent with Netcool and the rest of the Tivoli portfolio gives IBM one of the most comprehensive service assurance software suite in the industry," said Craig Farrell, CTO of Netcool for Tivoli Software at IBM.
The independent analyst firm report states, "OSS will remain a major focus area for carriers moving toward next-generation service delivery environments. However, carriers’ approaches to OSS will shift from the traditional organization in silos to fully amalgamated systems that are part of a cohesive multi-service environment."
IBM is capable of helping service provider clients manage services end-to- end -- across wireline, wireless, IP, and IT infrastructure; from availability, performance, service quality, and customer perspectives; and over an extremely wide array of third party equipment and applications.
